Ida Unger, M.Ed. and certified Iyengar yoga instructor, brings yoga and Judaism together for a deepening of both. Raised with a yeshiva education, Ida spent years as a high school teacher and then a yoga teacher at Santa Monica College and her own former studio.
In the early '90's, she began to receive threads of connection linking her Jewish soul to her yoga practice. She returned to Torah study and has received and developed a deep curriculum, linking two ancient practices, providing a Jewish path in yoga for a deep renewal of body, mind, soul and connection to all that is.
Iyengar yoga is unique for its emphasis on alignment that leads to correct poses and therapeutic effects. Yoga is a mind body science that enables growth on all levels: physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual. Thought to be close to 6000 years old, the practice of yoga poses will improve your life and bring you joy and inner harmony.
Iyengar Yoga, a school of hatha yoga practice as researched and taught by B.K.S. Iyengar, is extremely dynamic and transformational. The poses are taught with body alignment as a focus, so that muscles reform and bones realign, offering freedom of movement and strength, as well as the possibility of deep relaxation and rejuvenated health. Ida is involved in continuing education, as part of the worldwide efforts of B.K.S. Iyengar's dedication to yoga as a healing art, and his inspiration to continue her own growth and expand her knowledge.
